Barbra Steisand has selected the Alzheimer's Association to be
the beneficiary of an online auction of an intricate platinum
heart-shaped pendant that she designed.
This is the
second Women With Heart celebrity design and charity auction
campaign sponsored by Platinum Guild International USA, the U.S.
marketing arm for the worldwide platinum industry.
Online bidding
takes place at http://www.sothebys.com from Jan. 27 to Feb. 10.
"We are
grateful to Barbra Streisand for opening her heart to the Alzheimer's
Association," said Alzheimer's Association President Sheldon
Goldberg.
"There
are currently 4 million Americans with Alzheimer's disease and
another 18 million family members and friends affected by its
devastation," said Goldberg. "This generous public gesture
sends a powerful message of hope that they are not alone in their
suffering or in the fight to find a cure."
