Streisand Jewelry Auction to Benefit Alzheimer's Association

Entertainer Barbra Steisand has selected the Alzheimer's Association to be the beneficiary of an online auction of an intricate platinum heart-shaped pendant that she designed.

This is the second Women With Heart™ celebrity design and charity auction campaign sponsored by Platinum Guild International USA, the U.S. marketing arm for the worldwide platinum industry.

Online bidding takes place at http://www.sothebys.com from Jan. 27 to Feb. 10.

"We are grateful to Barbra Streisand for opening her heart to the Alzheimer's Association," said Alzheimer's Association President Sheldon Goldberg.

"There are currently 4 million Americans with Alzheimer's disease and another 18 million family members and friends affected by its devastation," said Goldberg. "This generous public gesture sends a powerful message of hope that they are not alone in their suffering or in the fight to find a cure."
